  1. "Is there a way this should face the diner" is such a good question. That's top restaurant thinking, love it.

  2. Loved this one!! I would love to see an unplanned cooking battle where each normal or chef has to make a dish based on a surprise plate rather than choosing the plate for the food.

  3. Amazing amazing amazing. I learnt a lot about plating from my professional cook mum. She reminisced about being raised for sprinkling 100s and 1000s on jam tarts made in school cookery class in early 1940s. So many tricks and tips thanks. How about a master class on using tired ingredients, alternate to making soup, toasting or deep-frying. Is it true fish and chips originated as a way of selling slightly gone off fish at end of day?

  4. I literally felt so proud of Jamie when I saw his plate #3! I love him and Kush together. They have total sibling energy – support each other but pull each others legs and just have a great time together

  5. Absolutely fantastic ! I genuinely learnt so much from this (as I do with loads of your videos). Kush is such a natural teacher with such a great style – 50% totally professional and 50% a bit wild and crazy. Jamie picked up on everything that he was being taught and you could see the massive difference in his style.

Honestly, just brilliant. Please, please, please more of these !

  6. Roast chicken: Again, prefer Jamie's, except wouldn't hide the mash, wouldn't nestle the green sauce-like creamed spinach up against the flowers of the green broccolini, DEFINATELY do not salt the customer's final plating, and drizzle plenty of sauce around (not on) everything.

  7. Fish: Jaime, for that style I'd've chosen a smaller plate because scattered as you have done makes it looks sparse. Maybe a black plate because everything was light-colored.
So, basically, for this offering I prefer Kush's small dish, making good use of the colors.

  8. 5:30 Kush did not take into account the CDO people who want to eat their food somekind of order. With Jamie's hummus plate, I can pick and choose what ever I want in every mouthful.

  9. Great video the way Kush makes you feel at ease is amazing. I would love to see Kush do a master class in BBQ.

  10. Is it wrong of me to like Jamie's bowl more than kush's ? It's simple and neat, and I can exclude the flavors I dont like !

  11. A tad cruel throwing our boy Jamie who is colour blind in on a plating competition 😂 for the record, I’m a professional chef, think you did a great job there. Great vid, Kushty knows his stuff, would be great to work with him. Take care lads.

  12. This was a fab video! Learned lots!

It would be fab to get some more vegetarian and vegan dishes though.. there is some beautiful veggies at the moment and would be great to have them as the star of the show sometimes!

  13. I wish they tasted those expert dishes on camera at the end to discuss how the taste was impacted by the plating.

  14. Kush! I'm keen to get very detailed on how to make the best pancakes. I feel like I'm 80% of the way there but there is always one that is more burnt than I want and one that is still raw in the middle, lay down the detailed knowledge.

  15. for me the most difficult about this is, the way i would find that it looks the most artsy (probably a geometrical 2D pattern completely covering the plate) is also completely not the way i would wanna eat it myself. if i think about eating something the way i would find it the most yummy, all items need to be cut to around the same size and be in a bowl. i really really hate having to eat any kind of drizzle or lonely spots scattered around on a plate. i love that kush made two versions in the end.

  16. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a knife skills masterclass! Just to have some of the techniques explained, like how they cut so confidently with fingers against the knife that they don't have to look?!

  17. Kush in teacher mode is a delight.

Idea for a future episode: how to rescue a ruined dish – when something went wrong during cooking or we didn't realise we're missing an important ingredient.

  18. Kush MasterClass in Batch Cooking (How to stop the same meal becoming boring)
And a MasterClass in Menu Planning for a family or even for someone by themselves would be a great help 😀

  19. I have a suggestion for meal packs. I live alone and often eat either leftovers from work for dinner or leftovers from my parents house. So most of the time I don't cook and I don't keep really fresh ingredients in the house because I don't use them.
It would be nice to have some packs and recipes they use on the shelf. Stable/freezer stable ingredients that I could keep in my pantry so that when I do need to cook I have them on hand.

  20. A tiny bit of feedback on this one; really enjoyed the video, but at the end after all the buildup on expert level being how it eats, they didn't eat any of it and discuss the differences! Kinda feels like the end of the video is missing. More like this please!

  21. Man, Kush is such a good teacher and is the exact opposite of most of my teachers I've had. Jamie is also such a good "student" too. This might be the best series y'all have done. It's just so informative and great.

  22. I loooooved loved loved this video! Plating nicely is one of the biggest challenges for me. It just doesn’t come naturally. So seeing your tips and how you approach each dish with different things in mind was so interesting. I want more! 😁♥️

  23. Does Jamie's colorblindness impact his plating end result? I could see how perhaps the color of a plate or even sauce placement could be more of a challenge that way, not being able to see how a bold color interacts with another element

  24. I would never have guessed that that final bowl was actually expert level plating (based on visuals alone). This was truly a masterclass by Kush. He is really a great teacher! What an addition to the screen-team of Sorted!👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

  25. Kush reminds me of young Yngwie Malmsteen. It can come off as though he has an ego, but once you see him perform you realize it’s just confidence steeped in unbelievable skill.

  26. Can really feel how the plating of the dish changes my desire to eat that particular dish. Great tip 🤔

  27. I love learning this stuff but I have to say, Jamie’s plating looks incredible. He can feed me any day ❤

  28. "Are you worried it looks like a platter, with everything separate"
As a fan of bibim bap, no – I'm not worried abiut that.

  29. “Have you read the comments lately?”
clearly not or Mike would’ve gotten his redemption dream meal 😂

  30. I like Kush's choice of bowl for the hummus dish, but I liked Jamie's plating better for both 1st and 2nd dishes.

  31. Can we get a part two for desserts that fall under the 'some assembly required' category before serving?

  32. I really love this series. Kush explains the information so well. Mike and Jamie have been sponges picking up all the information and I love that so much. I've learned so much.

I'm curious, because Kush talked about color a lot. Did Jamie find the challenges difficult due to his color blindness? If so, how did he overcome that when making his decisions and taking in the information from Kush?

I think it would be interesting if the Sorted crew talked about disabilities, perhaps with community members, and showed how the items they often review can be used to help people. This would go a long way in opening up the door to more people being able to do scratch cooking.
