meatballs:
8 oz ground beef
8 oz ground hot italian sausage
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup fresh parsley
1/2 cup finely chopped yellow onions
3 garlic cloves
1/2 cup parmesan
1 large egg
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper

Sauce:
1/2 yellow onion chopped
4 garlic cloves minced
1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
28 oz can crushed tomatoes
fresh basil leaves torn
salt and pepper
1 lb spaghetti

๐“—๐“ธ๐”€ ๐“ฃ๐“ธ:
~ arrange rack in middle of oven, heat to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, line baking sheet w/ parchment.
~ dice yellow onion, save half.
~ mince 7 garlic cloves and place a little over 1/2 in separate bowl
~ chop fresh parsley and place in bowl with 1/2 onion and garlic.
~ add parmesan, ground beef, italian sausage, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, salt and pper and mix until combined.
~ form 1″ – 1 1/2″ meatballs and place on baking sheet. bake until browned, or meat thermometer is 165 degrees Fahrenheit, around 15-20 mins
~ bring pot of salted water to boil, begin sauce.
~ heat up olive oil and add onion and remaining garlic
~ cook for a few mins. add red pepper flakes. add can of crushed tomatoes, salt and stir, bring to a simmer on med-high. reduce to low. when meatballs are ready, add to the sauce, gently stirring while pasta cooks. drain pasta
~ to plate, place cooked pasta on plate first, top center with large amount of sauce, topping with meatballs. garnish w/ parmesan and parsley

  4. i'm sure you liked the taste but the cooking process is sooo wrong.. who makes meatballs in the oven when you could cook them in the sauce and have a meaty flavor added?? and why not put the spaghetti (not noodles) directly in the sauce pan along with some pasta water to combine it all?… i don't mean to criticize but as an Italian girl this hurts my soul
