The food was unique, layered and many of it was farm to table. Italian with a twist. It’s on the east side but a bit off the beaten path. Service was excellent! Fast, considerate and genuine.
Really impressed! So happy to have found this place

I’m hoping this is because this place has gotten better. This is the place my wife and I always refer to if discussing the cliche state of affairs in Austin dining “small plates for way too expensive, and mid to poor service for the price point”

We went about a month after they opened and had a disappointing time – slow service, all plates very small for two (we asked for guidance when ordering) and left hungry, raw oysters served last (!!) in sequence, and just too damn expensive for what we got.

I want to qualify a little by saying I worked in high end hospitality for over a decade, and I generally tend to give the benefit of the doubt to places. When I read negative reviews I often wonder if it’s more about the writer than the place – I say that to illustrate that we are not often overly judgmental but we really had a rough go here. Perhaps we will go back and see if OP is right and they’ve smoothed out the edges

Their recent review in the chronicle offers this amazing description:

Another imaginative starter course is the beef tartare cannoli, which tucks beef into compact dough parcels and tops it with bone marrow vinaigrette, fruit mostarda and a tuft of pecorino cheese made from the milk of sheep, who have been grazing on chamomile.

I burst out laughing butttt I would definitely try it

Went here for the first time last night and was very impressed. I’m not someone who regularly dines at Austin’s higher end eateries, but this was the best meal I’ve had in town in recent memory. My dinner companion was a retired food writer/editor, and she was equally enthusiastic.

We shared the mussels in absinthe butter, chilled shrimp and artichoke leaves, crispy branzino, hoja santa cannelloni, and affogato, along with wines by the glass. There were no misses. Every dish had complex flavors and contrasting textures.

My only regret is that I’ve sworn off on dining regularly at restaurants at this price point, and won’t be rushing back this week to explore the rest of the menu.
