Picked this evening – Sart Roloise
Pale yellow in colour with outstanding purple/black anthocyanin shoulder colours. This variety's beauty is only outmatched by it's stunning flavour. The Sart Roloise tomato is bursting with sweet, fruity and complex flavours with just the right level of acidity. Sart Roloise's tropical flavour profile is inherited from it's parentage. It is a cross of the White Wonder tomato, which lends pineapple sweet notes, and the Baby Blue tomato, which explains the deep indigo blue brushstrokes on the shoulders. This variety was bred by Roland Boulanger, Sart Eustache, Belgium. This is a large beefsteak type.

Noted. On my list for next season. Thank you!
Have that one in my garden too. Just waiting for them to ripen ๐
Tasted like shit for me; couldn’t find anyone willing to actually eat them.
One guy — who’s the only reason I grew it (he bought the seeds, and I started plants for him; decided to grow out one Sart myself because the growth habit seemed cool) — said it tasted “acceptable” (he managed to kill his plants before they produced) but didn’t want any more after the first few I brought him.
I will say that it was surprisingly productive (especially for a “fancy” variety), set fruit well in both cold & heat, was early, and had *very* little cracking & no catfacing. Has held up to nematode & disease pressure pretty well, too…it would have been a standout, honestly, if it only tasted at least halfway decent.
My best performer this year. Incredible flavor, and itโs my Laker tomato ๐๐bacon sandwich backbone all summer
Those are beautiful. What do they taste like?
I grew these this year. Had an excellent yield. My only complaint is that they seemed a little more disease prone than the other varieties I grew. Almost all of them ended up with tiny black spots where none of my other varieties were affected.
Gorgeous
Very pretty! Would love to know what your plants looked like if you have pictures ๐ Both my Sart Roloise and Dark Galaxy last year had a very sharp contrast between colors rather than the gradient yours did, but the plants were also not that bushy so maybe my fruits got too much sun ๐

You gotta send a cross section picture!
