This is inside the barrel under grate level. The grill is new to me and idk if he had a fire or just didn't take good care of it, but there's several spots like this where the paint is chipping off. This is not the newer model that has a stainless steel barrel, this is the model where it's painted black with a stainless lod.

I'm presuming I need to get this taken care of painted with a high temp paint? Or is it fine for some reason?

Thanks!

Wow, I’ve seen people say there’s no edit post button but I figured they just didn’t know what they were doing. Sure enough, it’s not there.

Humid climate is what I was going to add, if it matters.

No problem. Just carbon build up flaking off.
    Keep cooking 👍

It’s probably paint on the drum. I contacted camp chef about mine. They offered to either replace the drum or give me $300 in credit towards other items. They recommended removing the rust and using a high temp spray paint to cover.

Inside of the lid should be stainless steel (no paint ). Looks like plain ass build up to me. Scrape it with a plastic putty knife or whatever.
