I’d say something grilled and not fried would be a good idea. Side of a fresh veg instead of fried things too.

If it’s your birthday, many happy returns! If not, hope you have a good time celebrating your family.

  2. It depends on what your calorie budget is for this meal. The chicken salad or sizzling chicken will have the least amount of calories, but you can definitely fit steak into a 1500 calorie budget. Especially since it tells you the weight so you don’t have to guess how much is on your plate. Just keep in mind that they’re telling you raw weight not cooked weight.

I would get the grilled chicken or any of the plain steaks.

Sizzling Chicken – its grilled chicken breast with peppers mushrooms and onions….Chicken Salad since it can be grilled with a salad. Curious about the Bacon Wrapped Filet but considering there is no price and Filet is never cheap that may be a pass, but I would definitely snag the broccoli as a side or a baked potato depending on your limits for the day.

The steaks are huge, maybe the sirloin tips with sautéed vegetables or the Ribeye. Is not a regular meal, so nothing is off limits. Go for it.

I would personally try Catfish Cajun Style, sounds interesting and Catfish is not something one founds on a typical (European) menu.

Just enjoy the dinner and order what you want. One day won’t ruin everything.

Honestly, you can have a grilled chicken salad anytime. Hell, you can even have a steak and broccoli anytime. You said you usually eat a 4oz steak at home, which is only a few hundred calories. You saved 1,000 calories for this you should splurge! Even a chicken fried steak with gravy won’t be more than 1,000. Neither would fried shrimp or catfish. If you got the chicken fried steak it may even be large enough that you could just eat half and save a few hundred calories for some dessert.

You don’t need to be so rigid on your birthday. If this was a regular day I’d surely suggest the grilled chicken or a salad, but with 1,000 calories you could literally eat anything on this menu without worry.

Here’s a link to Texas Roadhouse Nutrition info. It’ll give a good idea of what a restaurant serving size of these food items will run in calories. You can literally eat anything on this menu and stay within 1,000 calories. Even french fries w/gravy is the same amount of calories as a loaded baked potato. So if you’ve been craving something fried and don’t think it fits into your diet; just go for it! Enjoy!
