I’ve been growing these yellow cherry tomatoes in some pots this year, I’ve been continually picking them for the last six weeks or so and the coloring on them is generally yellow to orange. We had some heavy rains come through last week and some of the tomatoes split and some of them have developed this reddish brown speckling. The skins are still smooth although maybe a little tougher than normal? Does anyone know what this is about?

It’s because it’s getting colder. They’re fine but won’t taste as great. Same reasoning behind why you don’t store your tomatoes in the fridge.

  2. Sun baby cherry tomatoes? (If you’re in the UK I guess from gardeners world magazine.) mine done the same, nothing to worry about.

I asked the same question and was told uneven sunlight or just a genetic thing, no different to you or I having freckles. Probably find it happening more frequently as the season’s changing to autumn.
