Good morning Reddit, I spent the last two years working on making the perfect foodie community and although there are still a few updates to fix some errors over the next few weeks I feel it is good enough to tell you about now. I also wanted this sub to get a pre invite before I started promoting it to the masses.

The community is called uMenu and it is an iPhone app (will one day be on android hopefully). It is free to use, free to join, there are no ads, and there is no information harvesting or anything like that. You don’t even need to make an account except to post or comment.

There are a number of reasons I built this app, maybe some are relatable or some arent:

  1. Instead of looking at a menu when I go to a restaurant, I just want to see pictures of all the food. That way I won’t see a dish go by and think oh I should have gotten that. How is it possible there isn’t a way to see pictures of each menu item?

  2. On instagram I constantly see posts by influencers of delicious looking food. The problem is without a little research and effort I really don’t know if that post is close to me or 30 miles away.

  3. There are so many times (but not often enough) I will hear about something that I wish I had known for years. For example, just today, using uMenu, I found out that there is a Michelin star restaurant not 5 minutes from me that has a pizza and wine happy hour for only $25. What?? I have been living in this same apartment over a year and never heard of that until today, I will definitely be going.

4.Finally I wanted a place to keep all my restaurant photos in one place and so that when I am telling someone about somewhere to eat I could quickly find the pictures.

This is the link to get uMenu: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/umenu/id1163185644

By Monday the issue with swiping left and right on the stories will be fixed with an app store update. And also seen stories will be gray circles much like instagram.

And I know sometimes you have to ask, so this is what I would like to ask you to do: Once you get the app, post your favorite food picture. Use the ask feature to ask a question specific to you like “where should I go to get a breakfast burrito?” Watch the stories other people have posted. And mostly importantly, have a great time connecting with foodies all around you.
