I mean, I get it from a presentation perspective, I guess. Seems like a lot of extra steps just to eat soup out of a soggy ass bowl that isn’t going to impart much, if any, onion flavor if you’re just using it as a dish to eat out of.
Just chop up the extra onion, cook it into the soup, and put it into a bowl.
