Just bought a Recteq Deck Boss 590 from Amazon the other day on Prime Day. The grill was 15% off plus I signed up for the Amazon Prime card and got a $150 credit and another 5% off the purchase price. Add it all up it's about $585 for a $900 grill, not too bad IMO! Thinkin to do some spatchcocked chickens, or some quarters for the first cook. Any suggestions?

Be sure to do the Initial Setup Procedure (Burn-in) on page 11 of the Deck Boss owner’s manual. Page 13 for the RT-590.

For food, anything you like. Larger items like butts and briskets will take many hours so plan accordingly.

Tip: Keep the drip tray fairly clean by lining with wide heavy duty aluminum foil.

Tip: Line the drip bucket by putting aluminum foil around a fist and gently pushing down into the bucket.

Tip: (This is for RT-590. Deck Boss may be different.) Remove the pellet hopper guard grid screws then cover the resulting holes with aluminum tape. Keep the guard in place (without screws) if there are kids around and remove it to change out pellet flavors. A plastic food/ice scoop works well.

Tip: Put a silicone mat on top of the hopper to protect the finish. It will likely be your primary shelf.

Tip: Store pellets in the original bag in a climate controlled area such as a home’s spare room or closet.

Tip: During major cookout holidays the Reqtec app servers have been known to get overwhelmed causing temp reach alarm notifications to fail. During major cookout holidays keep an eye on the temp when it’s near the desired setpoint.

    Enjoy your new Recteq.
