I don’t know why HF insists that every taco be with flour tortillas. Almost no tacos should be using flour tortillas! I will die on this hill!! This would have been soooo much better with corn tortillas.
Anyways, I used a previous order of flour tortillas since this came with only two huge tortillas and I didn’t want quesadillas.
The sauce part was really good and I enjoyed that and I would get this again but I would either use corn or just make the quesadillas. The sauce wasn’t spicy for those interested. More tomato taste based.
Anyone else’s chicken not chopped? I’ve gotten the chopped chicken before with no issues but this one was barely chopped. I didn’t realize till I poured into the pan so I had to wait till it was finished cooking then chopped it up. I also chopped up the tomato and cooked it along side the chicken for better flavoring. (I don’t want cold wet tomato on top of my tacos, just my preference)
Overall this one has potential and I would try it again.

Unlucky for me they forgot the texmex paste so I’m not sure what I am got make with the rest of the ingredients

Hearing what you said about the chopped chicken being not very chopped gives me hope, I might try it again. I’ve ordered a couple of different recipes that had chopped chicken over the course of the past almost two years, and it was pretty gross. It was chicken and fat and almost like it was ground. I tried to pick the fat out, but it left very little actual chicken breast pieces in it. The fact that I couldn’t get chicken cutlets (to just cut up myself) with this dish in particular made me not want to order it. That’s what dissuades me from ordering a LOT of dishes, because we don’t like the chopped chicken. It’s probably just because I’m such a picky eater, if I get a piece of fat or anything that I chew, I will gag or retch and I have to stop eating.
I’ve seen several people say that the chicken needed to be chopped more, and that sounds like it might be pretty good. And thanks for the review and suggestions for this recipe, I might look it up and see if I can recreate it, because I got some fresh chicken breasts from the store (HelloFresh forgot one of my packs of chicken this week, so I bought a pack of 4). Yours looks great, and I have corn tortillas that we sometimes swap in rather than the flour tortillas.
I would not trust HF to provide corn tortillas.
