    Also, I know it’s a bit dusty. Just pulled the black speaker stands and that table out of storage. Again, WIP 😉

  2. By soil-based you mean they were grown in soil and then converted to semi-hydro?

    I do the same but I use a hybrid setup where I plant the complete root ball (WITH the soil) on a layer of and surrounded by leca.

    Best of both worlds. The soil acts as a buffer for pH and nutrients while you get the benefits of using a reservoir (well below the soil). The plant will develop a hybrid root system by growing secondary roots into the reservoir which become adapted to being submerged (water roots).

    I use the above method for all my sensitive houseplants (calathea, alocaia, …) and for my annual flowers on the terras and in the garden for my tomatoes and strawberries. When they are outside you need to drill a drain on the side of course (below the soil level).
