This sub has been so much fun! So many talented cookie artists. But, mostly I love how kind everyone is in sharing their love, appreciation, tips, and tricks. It really is a beautiful exchange amongst strangers. I’m new to cookie decorating, but have decided to bake a monthly batch that I sent to friends and family. The October batch was obviously Halloween themed! Excited to start thinking about November’s batch.

Btw, making the black icing was a little challenging. I used some tips I found on this forum. I used black cocoa powder and black food gel. I tried not to over saturate the icing with food gel, but still feel like it was a little over saturated. The consistency of the icing was a little bit off…a tad too gelatinous. But, the black did come out nicely, especially after sitting overnight to develop into a deeper color.

    When you say oversaturated- what is this , how do you know, and what’s the problem/ outcome?
