I put in a grocery order today for jalapeños as I wanted to make a taco soup that I have made many times before. I got a package of 5 “jalapeños” and cut up 3 for the soup.

I washed up and cleaned up and noticed shortly after that my fingertips were burning- almost felt like I had (heat)burnt my hand, but I didn’t. I washed my hands about 80 times and the sensation didn’t subside for about 5 hours. Even still about 8 hours later if I wash my hands they “heat up” in the same places.

What the eff are they?

Is a jalapeno. This summer heat was great for growing. Had some super spicy jalapenos recently

Looks like a good jalapeño, could be a deformed Serrano.

  3. They’re jalopenos. People underestimate them because the range in heat is crazy but when you get a hot batch they can easily be as hot as Serranos.

Usually Serranos are a little thinner than jalapeños but also, I’ve had some jalapeños that could give a Serrano a run for its money.

Jalapeños vary greatly, good genetics can pack a serious wallop.

to get rid of the burn wash your hands in vinegar
