7:55? Try “banging on the door the moment there’s movement inside”

I worked at Hooters. During NFL season, there would be this old guy who would show up an hour before we opened at 11. Just to get his table so he could secure and watch 3 different games on separate tvs that start at 1.
He would just sit on the patio reading the newspaper until we unlocked the door. He was pretty chill, didn’t cause any problems. When the first game starts, he would order 50 wings, half now and the other half for the 4 o’clock game. habenorro BBQ.

Acting like if they don’t get their morning biscuit they will die immediately

It’s a nice feeling to just stop prep at 7:50 and sit by the front door and scroll on your phone until 8:03, then open.

Opens at 6am… get there around 4:30 to get everything setup, old men at the doors 5:30 bc they I know I unlock em early and coffees already on

This happened to me today and they proceeded to order the most time consuming item on the menu.

We had an old guy a while back get to my cafe about 15 minutes before we opened. The opening barista had already set up the patio but was still doing inside prep. The next barista arrived 10 minutes early, and old guy tried to follow her inside, but she shut the door right in his face. He took one of the patio chairs, turned it around and sat right in front of our windows, staring inside. And watched us for a full 10 minutes as we finished opening. We made sure to wait until 8:01 to unlock the door.

I was working during hurricane helen (coast of NC) we decided to open late and had people in the downpour and winds banging on the door at 8am

I used to work in the IKEA restaurant and one time we were opening during a snow storm, about 30min before opening, the store decided to close because the snow was getting too bad for employees to get to the store. We had like 50 people waiting outside and complaining that we weren’t open.

This is me. I’m 32. I don’t like people, and I have the “be early as hell or die,” type of ADHD

I used to work at a Total Wine, we’d have people standing at the door at like 8:45am waiting to get in at 9. Some people would even use send the notification that they’re there to pick up a curbside order. The Kohl’s next door was even worse. People would hang out front like 20 minutes prior to opening since they apparently had nothing else better to do.

I love it. I wish more of them would come right at open. Sales are sales. It’s how the bills are paid. I never understood the attitude.

inaccurate meme – it’s 7:45 at the latest. Drives me mental, and when you do open they need to chat forever about inane things, spend 15 minutes deciding what to order and then slowly count out coins. All while a line forms behind them.

The customers I don’t mind much, they might show up before open, but they usually at least understand that we just opened and don’t act impatient once inside and they’ve ordered.
It’s the delivery drivers that annoy me. The second opening time hits, orders pop up on the screen. Then within 2-3 minutes later we’ve got a driver(s) already coming in and bitching at the cashier asking why the order isn’t ready yet and demanding to know how much longer.

I’ve been at businesses early so as to get inside immediately at open, and even if the door is unlocked or whatnot I always wait until the official time to enter.

This is so universal to so many industries lmfao. My restaurant has some dumb policy of unlocking the doors at 11 AM (also the time the first FOH people arrive to do setup/prep) despite opening at 11:30 so people come in way before we’re ready like once a week minimum. We all hate it 🫠

Shit, my boss would unlock the door and invite them in regardless of the fact that NOTHING is ready to be served or cooked

Not even, the sardines episode is more accurate.
