My Numex's and ghost are just now fruiting and snow/frost is on the forecast! Running a CFL lamp inside the box at night to help fight the freezing temps.

If they just started fruiting you are minimum 2-3 months away from getting ripe fruits. Sorry but they are probably a loss. Start earlier next year

Even if they don’t ripen, the insulation may overwinter them for next season!

The white gloss surface of the ~~card~~board will reflect a lot of the solar radiation that hits it.
~~I would suggest you consider covering the outside of these boxes with some of that black weed-control grow fabric to try and get the sun’s help to warm it up during the day.~~
Edit: nvm, got a closer look at those *foam insulation boards*, lol!
It’s an interesting idea, and it’s always good to experiment, but I’d be surprised if this enclosure, plus a CFL, is enough to keep them warm in overnight freezes.

I think a hoop house would have been a better option. They’re pretty inexpensive, and without a heater, can extend growing season by about 1 month on either end. With a heater, you can usually get an extra 2 months on either end. Those heaters are inefficient without good insulation though, so keep that in mind

I have faith!! I had to overwinter my ghost peper just as I finally got one fruit. I couldn’t keep up. Hope they pop lock and drop it
