We return to Trader Joe’s to review two tins that have popped up on my powerful Canned Fish Radar (r/cannedsardines). We’ll also learn about a mechanical device called a “rotary brander”. Get excited!
On test:

Hey, Roy! Buy it, or forget it! Like it or not?
I’m a big fan of Ekone smoked oysters. I’ll have to try some smoke mussels!
This channel has made me feel like I am not the only salty sailor that loves canned fish
I feel the Barnes & Barnes song Fish Heads should be the soundtrack < intro
I thought you died of mercury poisoning.
Have to be butterflied to remove bones.
Would not eat food from Morocco, Tunisia or China.
Aldi’s recently shrinkflationed their sardines from 4.25 oz to 3.75 oz, from 200 calories to 140, from 20 g of protein to 13 g, from whole headless consistent size fish lined up neatly packed to a hodge-podge of tiny and medium size fish sloppily loose in the can, from nice smooth sardine taste to salty briny sardine taste, from Morocco source to Poland. The new source is not as good as the old; but Aldi does have low prices in the marketplace.
Yeah……Yeah………Yeah……
I really enjoyed those oddball grilled sardine fillets. No off flavors like some of the smoked ones can have. Pretty sure grilled and filleted is a very common way to eat them fresh all over the Mediterranean–though never had the pleasure myself. I prefer the charcoal flavor over the ones with "smoke flavor added" which is actually just bunt oil (definitely carcinogenic) and not real smoking. I've gotten the smoked mussels many times, but it is definitely a mood I have to be in–good quality but really smokey. They are similar to the small smoked oysters that come from Korea. El Manar brand has sardines from Tunisia that are quite decent. They even have one in a harissa sauce. Nice slightly smaller sardines from El Manar. Some reviews on r/cannedsardines too.
Oh my fave is the smoked trout yum
my cat liked this one
Dude has a hyperdrive palette with an imaginative analogy. Love it.
starting to think he doesn't even like fish lol
Yes that's how I buy beer
My boy… eating canned fish and worrying about carcinogens is wild
Just tried these and loved them. Oil was tasty and I sipped all of it. I will be stocking up on these for sure. smoked and grilled; yum
I'm still working up the nerve to eat sardines. I have opened a few cans but end up feeding to the cats
It's for all of us who like our toast extra toasted huh, or is it beyond even that? I'm not opposed to a taste of cancer here or there
Boneless. BONELESS? BONE-MOTHERING-FUCK-LESS??!! No spine action at all…
Le sigh.
Trader Joe’s used to have great canned herring from Germany, sadly, they are no longer available. I have a stash of four tins that I am saving for a special occasion
No bones? Theyll be flopping around like KOKO the clown…What a mess.. Everything's crushed ! RIP fishies. Is it intense smokey? Oh boy, he's brought out the sauce… Don't like weird after taste.
Love mussels.Smoke is different? Decisions, decisions. Short mussels that are sweet and salty? Sounds good…
Im getting some of that sauce for my canned oysters. Do canned oysters sometime! 🎩🤨✌️.
When u have to put hot sauce on something to kill the flavor then it sucks
I think you are overthinking a simple sardine
Seasons sells "grilled" mackerel that appears to be stamped on top (only) with a hot grille. The grill-marks taste like burnt hair.
The music (from about 01:18 to 02:50) makes me feel like I’m watching an 80’s cop movie, and the lead character is snooping through the lead villain’s compound.
