happened to hit holbox today and was stoked to see this was open and couldn’t help but check it out. Taco Sonia was excellent (it’s big!), the plantains in mole was very good and I really loved the fresh masa taste in the Tlocoyos. excited to try more stuff! Insane all the places you can hit now in that food court!!
Just made the pilgrimage and it 1000% lives up the hype, excited to see the concept develop.
With the recent opening of Komal and expansion of Oaxacalifornia, Mercado la Paloma has really evolved into a culinary powerhouse
Ten dollar tacos… Just fucking shoot me.
Latin food is not supposed to be cheap! This place is 💯 worth it!
Dammit I wish I were in L.A. right now–I’ve been looking forward to Komal opening and was hoping I could try it this past summer!
I’m glad to hear that. I used to go all the time about a decade ago, but there were not very many things in there. There was a great bookstore and I hope that’s still there.
Walk me through this experience. I’m not very versed in the different styles and techniques that are making these tacos great. Why the hype? What separates this from the rest? Thank you humbly.
Reminds me of the experimental/indigenous restaurant I went to last month in the Condesa area in CDMX.
They didn’t even have prices nor were you able to choose what you wanted to eat. They just brought you a dish, you ate it and if you wanted the next dish, they would make it and bring it out. and you pay whatever the bill was at the end of the meal lol
