Put it in a sock, you can use it to fight off attackers 💥
But good job at the attempt, hope some lessons were learned – sourdough is far from easy

Ahh, ye old hockey puck. I have made that more than once. I recommend doing a hybrid of yeast and sourdough starter. Yeast for rise and sourdough for flavor. Ken Forkish has a great book on it.

Dwarven battle bread.
That actually looks better than *my* first sourdough.

I think everyone has had an epic bread fail at least one time in one’s life. Mine looked like a flying saucer from a 60s Japanese sci fi movie.

Yeah, the temperature of your oven is lying to you. Get a thermometer. My last oven was 15°, cold I’m guessing yours is closer to 20°

Looks like you let the bread machine do the cook. I let it go till the final proof then do it in a separate bowel.
Looks like just about none of the process was done correctly

I go for lazy sourdoughs and don’t use a bread machine, lazy methods are low kneeding an just take a while but seem to work pretty well. Also i don’t always do the stretch and folds but seems to come out well this is the recipe i use

I thought that was liver pate
It sorta looks like fudge
Every time I see bread like this, I always wish that whoever cut it open would yell this out loud and have [this meme](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/you-dense-motherfucker) in mind.
use it for dumplings!
Did you use solar power to bake it? xD
How much does that loaf weight?
Congrats, you’ve made hard tack!

It looks like concrete. 🤭
You need to bake this on a lower temperature 150°C. And 75 minutes.
🤔 Let it rise for a longer time.
That does look like dough 👍 Hope it was sour enough
