We are streamlining and giving a few of our videos a facelift. Welcome to our “Classic Series” and to the crowned jewel of the Thanksgiving buffet. In this video I give instructions on how to freeze the dressing (part or whole) in order to get ahead for the big day, but I did make a small dish to taste test! #shineforjesus #memesrecipessc #memesrecipes #cornbreaddressing #thanksgivingsides

  1. You have brought back some memories! My Daddy would grow a patch of sugar cane some years. I remember him striping it and cutting a chunk for me to chew. The juice was so good.

  2. Reminds me of amish bread pudding style dtessinh. Id want the chunks and cubes and rosemary. Thymr, and sage. This looks stick to your ribs yummy. Could you use turkey broth?

  3. Hi Meme! My family has used a recipe my Aunt Flo got from a local nursing home in Little Rock. It uses cornbread and white bread cubed. His year, I'm going to make your recipe. You are a true blessing to all of us and as you tell us the 'Shine for Jesus' you are letting your light shine so brightly. God bless you, all my love, Christy

  4. You are a beautiful person. Thank you for being you. Reminds me of Old Grandma as we called her. She was my grandma via a marriage that has ended, but her love for Jesus and her amazing cooking, watching you brings me peace

  5. I am going to make a pan of this along with our bread stuffing. I love your videos. You have now put me in the Holiday spirit. Gif bless you all.

  6. Hey MeMe, I know your family loves squash. My sweet mother-in-law made squash dressing throughout the year for part of Sunday lunch. She just added cooked and chopped squash to her regular dressing recipe. It was fabulous especially with a ham dinner. It is a wonderful side dish—such a welcome addition to a regular Sunday meal and loved by all of us.

  7. I’m so glad I watched this because being the goofus that I am, I’ve always frozen dressing in freezer bags never thinking about freezing it in a pan lol. Love your videos! There’s nothing better than cane sugar!

  8. Looks really good. My mom and I love dressing. I started a new tradition years ago. Instead of just having it Thanksgiving and Christmas, we would also have it every Easter,

  9. You just proved to me I was making mine right. Except for pureeing my celery and onion. I fry my celery and onion using the “stick of butter” and always bake a skillet of cornbread. I also use sage and a lil bit of black pepper. I’m the designated dressing maker. I learned from watching beautiful and great cooks just like you, my Mom (the oldest of 12) and Mamaw. Your soul shines bright, MeMe!! 🙏 ❤

  10. My grandma would use cream of celery soup because our family didn’t like chunks in the dressing. It was so good 😊 Thank you for your recipe ❤

  11. My Grandfather made cane syrup. He had one or two horses that turned the wheels. The juice was cooked off in a very large shallow pan. Still have the pan. 12’by 3’. It was delicious. He kept honey bees. Raised, beef, pork, chickens and turkeys. A huge garden and orchard. Fresh milk, butter and creme. Gosh it was wonderful. Seems hard to believe those times actually happened.

  12. Our hands are our best tools. I really enjoy your videos MeMe! You are a sweetheart ❤️! I've never made cornbread stuffing I make bread stuffing. I'll try your recipe. After my cataract surgery.

  13. A little advice to add more flavor…saute the veggies in butter and seasoning before adding it to the bread mixture. You could also add canned cream of chicken as well as seasoning salt and pepper.

  14. Looks good that's how my mom made hers, now for me i add a can of cream of chicken it's so darn good and moist dressing, i also make chicken and dressing i get so many request for it to be made. It's a must try with cream of chicken you'll love it

  15. Thank you!!! I've been racking my brain trying to remember the dressing
I've made it more times than I can count but my memory isn't working lately lol

Your recipe jarred my memory into action. It's the same as our family has made all these years

  16. On scraping the bowl … okay, I grew up in extreme poverty. Nothing went to waste. If it was put in front of you, you ate it or you didn’t eat. When I took Home Economics, scraping the bowl was drilled into us, but I would have done it anyway. You’re actually very good at (mostly) doing this, but I’m not going to lie, there have been a few times 😂 I just watched a famous cook making chicken pot pie, four of them so three could go in the freezer, and she had mounds of diced onion, carrot & celery … and she left at least a cup or more on the cutting board! I. Could. Never. But, she does this all the time! Yes, it’s a pet peeve of mine 😊

  17. Thank you so much for your wonderful videos! Does it matter what kind of onion (yellow or white)? And does the sugar make the cornbread sweet?
