I just picked up some chicken liver from the butcher and something's throwing me off. Most of it looks like the usual liver color, but one piece is almost greyish-green… The smell seems fine, nothing funky or off, but that color has me second-guessing things.

Is this normal? Should I be worried about eating it?

Usually if it doesn’t smell then it’s ok. But since it’s liver and not expensive to replace, I wouldn’t risk it and I’d just get another

  2. that’s the gallbladder. should have been removed at butchering, it’s safe to remove on your own. don’t eat it as it tends to be bitter. won’t ruin the rest of the food if removed before cooking.

Looks like the gallbladder. It’ll be bitter and grainy. Eat it or toss it, no big deal.
