Thanksgiving meals were handed out in our area Saturday, the event taking place at the Logan Township Municipal Building as part of a tradition that organizers said started 15 years ago.

They said with the high cost of living, food and economic uncertainty, there is still a need to help those struggling in Blair County.

Organizers said this distribution would not be possible without donations coming in from other local businesses.

They said a total of 234 people are getting the meal boxes.

Volunteers said each box includes a turkey, trimmings and a pumpkin pie for dessert.

Logan Township Supervisor Ed Frontino said, “They’re really good, they’re really good at what they do. They’re firefighters, they give back to their community all the time, that’s why they’re firefighters; they want to serve the community, they want to do things good for the community. This is a great way for them to give back and say ‘thanks’.”

Organizers also said it is important not only to lend a helping hand this season, but all year-round.
