Found this in my tri tip while I was trimming just a bit of fat off the top. Managed to cut it out and remove anything that had touched/surrounded it. It didn't go through the fat and stopped before the meat.
No smell either.
Thanks!

You can’t get contact cancer. Maybe just a benign tumor…hopefully. Just cut it out and cook it.

Let me guess, Costco?

I thought this was someone’s knee when I first scrolled by 🤮

Probably safe to eat if you cut it out, my appetite would make me throw it away tho because that’s fucking gross. If you get a shit piece of meat or fuck up your cook there’s always pizza delivery lol.

Currently being dry brined for 48 hours, so have some time to decide if it’ll kill me or not
I’m not exactly sure what it is but I’ve prepared dozens of tri tips and I’ve never not found a creepy spot like that on the fat cap side. Sometimes its bigger, sometimes smaller but it seems to just be part of the anatomy. I just try to trim that part down as much as possible.

Return that one.

Its fine just cook it and eat it. I think you all would love what happens when butchers or meat cutters do when they see that shit.
They just cut it out if its seen and send it on its way. If it gets missed, well here you go.
Its much more common than you think

Rule of thumb in the kitchen, when in doubt throw it out!

Had something similar on a Tri tip a while back. It grossed me out so we just took it back to the store

Tri tip often has glands or lymph nodes in them. Safe to eat, but cut it out if it makes you uncomphy. Edit: here is a post from last year coving this same subject. This is a widely discussed topic here on Reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/Butchery/s/SflYFO7ZOv

Wtf Is that

Really you would consider toss or going to the trouble to return it to the store because it has a blood clot, cyst, tumor or something else that won’t harm you but you find repulsive looking cut the sore, tumor, clot out and cook and eat the meat it’s not going to kill you and stop being so particular
Tri-Tip_Master
Lymph node. Doesn’t hurt anything and has no taste. Just cut it off.

I have to ask myself how I’ll feel while eating it, doesn’t look spoiled but that gland or whatever would def be in my mind the whole time I was chewing.
SaltyyDoggg
Is that a cherry pie?
BeefSwellinton
Gland. Totally fine. Tri- tips usually have them there.

I used to cook 600-800 lbs of Tri tip at a time for sports fundraisers. Found those all the time while trimming. Cut it out and enjoy your Tri tip. It’s perfectly safe and you’ll forget it was even there.

Should be fine…Cook it to proper temperature.
Nervous-Law-6606
Cut it out and cook it, it’s technically safe.
Me personally, I’d throw it away. That’s just me though. 🫡
gert_beefrobe
it’s a lymph node. It’s on every tri-tip that is cut and labeled correctly.
laxout13
Just a gland. Happens most the time you buy an untrimmed tri tip. Cut it out and throw away. Rest of it is good to go 👍🏼

It appears to be a gland. If it is it isn’t harmful but also not desirable. https://www.google.com/gasearch?q=is%20there%20a%20gland%20on%20tri%20tip&source=sh/x/gs/m2/5#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:04e8b717,vid:h7k0btucmFk,st:0

Cut it out along with the rest of that fat cap.
