The box was stored in a cool, dry place and has never been opened, but it expired in December 2020. Is it still safe for consumption or should I just throw it out?

You should save it. I feel like OG aunt jemima may be worth something some day.

That’s a best before, it was at its best before that date, it’s a bit less fresh after, but if unopened it should be fine

I think it expired in 2020 because that’s when they deemed it a racist logo. But should taste fine. But like someone already said, hold onto it cuz it could be worth something someday.

    “Well smell it!”

“It has absolutely no smell whatsoever.”

“Put it back! Someone will eat it!”

    AI Overview

It’s unlikely that expired pancake mix would directly cause death, but it’s important to be aware of the risks:

    Mold

If the pancake mix is moldy, it could pose a risk to people who are allergic to mold. Mold can grow in pancake mix that’s not stored in an unbleached wax paper, plastic, or foil pouch.

    Anaphylaxis

A severe allergic reaction to mold in pancake mix can make it hard to breathe and can be life-threatening.

    Other contaminants

Pancake mix can also be contaminated with dust mites, which can cause severe anaphylaxis.

While there aren’t usually health risks associated with eating pancake mix after the best-by date, it’s not recommended. If the pancake mix has been opened for more than six months or has passed the best-by date, it’s best to throw it out.

Don’t OPEN IT! The liberal crybabies had Jemima removed. It will be a collectors item in the South, someday.
