The wine needed a minimum 2-3 hours in the decanter. I tried a sip after an hour and it was still incredibly tight.
I really really like this wine! It's definitely full bodied enough to chew but notas much as other nice wines I've drank.
The nose is very floral and has a subtle scent of lavender. It was very tannic in the first few sips but as it got more air in both my glass and decanter it became much much smoother. Lots and lots of vanilla on the nose, some subtle oak, and licorice in the first few sips but went away over time. There was something in the after taste that lingered I don't know how to describe, maybe very intense vanilla? The length was for a few seconds that included a peppery finish
Overall the wine still seems a little underdeveloped. I bought the three-pack after getting off the wait-list so I'll let the other two age for a bit longer.

Always a really made wine from a great plot of earth. Drank a bunch of 2003-2013 but priced me out after 2013.
Good to see notes on recent vintages.
Fuck yeah! Same on the price, I just buy tin man now!
Nose is floral is a really strange descriptor for Scarecrow . Had enough of that to think it’s incredibly oak and ripe bordering on cooked fruit aromas . Not saying your nose is wrong just just find it interesting
This is my favorite Napa cult wine. So damn good.
I’ve never had one this young, but it’s definitely an excellent wine. Is it worth the price to me? Maybe not, but it’s really great stuff.
I had a 2012 a couple weeks ago and it was the best wine I’ve ever had…
God I love this wine. It’s definitely one I wish I could taste aged. We’ve always had it kind of young but it’s so great. Definitely one I’m priced out of but enjoy when shared with me
May I ask where you got your decanter?
