Tried these Gooseneck Barnacles on our fish board today (had to Google how to eat these tbh).
They taste like the Northern Pacific Ocean, and look like tortoise feet:D

Happy Thanksgiving!

I love these. I eat them by the bucket whenever I visit Portugal.

I have never heard of anyone eating barnacles! Grew up in Florida with plenty of them around too lol

These grow here in CA but I think they’re illegal to harvest 🙁

I watch a lot of YouTube of folks harvesting these on the pacific coast. Still don’t know how they were cooked/consumed

  5. When I went to Portugal I wanted to try them but always forgot to ‘order ahead’ like the restaurant needed. I’m thinking about getting them canned.

I live a mile from the ocean in Oregon, I knew that these were eaten in some places, but I thought that I remembered Andrew Zimmern or someone saying how terrible they are. I have a shellfish license and they’re legal here, next time I’m at the beach I’ll grab some and try them.

In Japan, they’re called *kame-no-te*, which precisely mean turtle feet 🙂

As much as I love percebes fresh, the canned ones were good for a fix. Too bad they’re so expensive though.

  8. I want a taste 😭 I gotta sneak onto a pier and start scraping
