This video is all about Beneficial insects for pest control in your vegetable gardens – in particular lacewings, ladybirds, hoverflies, bees and butterflies!
I interviewed Entomologist Dr Paul Horne – director of IPM Technologies – (entomologist = insect expert!) to learn about the secret allies of every successful vegetable garden in Australia.
We’ll cover off how to identify adult lacewings, ladybirds, hoverflies and other beneficial insects, how to identify their eggs and larva (juveniles), what they do, which pests they control and how to attract them into your Australian Vegetable Gardens.
Learn how to protect your plants naturally, say goodbye to harmful pests and hello to a thriving, chemical-free veggie garden!

Wow so interesting Christie. I always leave the aphids on my roses at the beginning of spring and they always sort themselves out with ladybugs 😊

I've got t 2 paper wasp nests one on a fence and the other on a grape vine stem , I read that they are a predictor of the caterpillar. It's the first I've seen it. The nest is a fine piece of engineering no tools required amazing.
Your vids are always detailed and informative. Thank you!
I'm on Phillip Island and there are so many wonderful ground birds here!
Last spring and summer (i.e.2023) we had masses of White Cabbage butterflies. This year hardly any!
