Did you know that zucchini flowers are edible? A big thanks to my Italian neighbor, Maria, who taught me this quick, easy, and delicious recipe. Sadly, Maria passed away last year, but I’m sure she would be happy in heaven to see her age-old traditional recipe being shared on the internet with people around the world.

Here are the steps:

Harvest the flowers in the morning from your garden. Wash and clean them, removing the pollen inside and any ants or insects.

Beat two eggs. Add half a teaspoon of salt and some ground pepper, then beat the eggs well.

Add oil to the frying pan. Dip the flowers in the egg batter, fry them in the pan, add cheese on top, flip once or twice, and they’re ready.

This recipe is very easy and simple to make. Best of all, it’s the freshest and most organic, direct from your garden in under 20 minutes.

Another method is to stuff the flowers with meat, dip in egg and flour batter and deep fry. This is less healthy version.
