2015 Morgon lapierre
Pomegranate and cherry cola, smoked meat, rosemary, flinty, tea. There’s a noticeable acidity and serious finish that shows the quality of this estate. Outstanding. 93 points.

As it opens it gets a really plump cherry flavor. Acidity remains in balance.

Nino Franco cork says 2017
Unripe melon, chalk, sweet lemon, something like autolytic flavors but not overly intense. Jordan almonds. Surprisingly not tired. 91 points.

Food is Gordon Ramsey’s turkey Wellington with added duxelles. Green beans with lemon and pine nuts, Brussels with five spice, ground smoked citron, Berkshire pork belly and glazed with hoisin and shaoxing, chèvre mashed potatoes with balsamic onion gravy, cranberry sauce with orange and maple syrup, sweet potatoes with ras al hanout, and carrots with lawry’s and hot honey

  1. Damn sounds like the 9 years have been kind to the Lapierre, never had one more than a couple years old. Always hits though.

LaPierre tends to do well no matter what year it is. I had a 2020 Morgon from them. It was not only very solid, it was a great value. I think I paid only $38 for it.
