I’ve tried a lot of protein oatmeal recipes and they always kinda gross me out. The addition of protein powder ruins the texture and flavor. Greek yogurt also ruins the texture for me.
So I challenged myself to make a delicious bowl of oatmeal **packed** with good stuff. Here’s what I came up with, and it was splendid!
– oats – almond milk (sub fairlife if you have it!) – egg white powder, added *after* cooking – chia seeds – hemp hearts – honey and a few berries, and a dash vanilla extract
I like it with egg white powder more than when I’ve tried liquid egg whites. It seems to affect the texture less. And it’s soooo much better than whey protein oats for my taste buds!

I’ve been putting protein powder in oatmeal for years and never once had an issue with texture and flavor. Matter of fact, I can’t even eat oats without adding protein powder as it doesn’t taste nearly as good. You may have used a poor powder.

Halving the oats with TVP adds a lot of protein too!
