My friend and I were examining the ribeyes at Costco for marbling. I guess it was long enough to catch a worker’s attention, because he came out and handed us this packaged as “choice” and said “Take this one, it’s the best one”.

I’m guessing he mislabeled it to take it home himself later and at some point decided not to.

Smoked over charcoal and double smoked oak wood chunks.

He didn’t mislabeled. They don’t grade everything piece of meat they grade in batches.

This was sold to them as Choice, though it is clearly better! Now you know the guy to talk to when you need help next time.

That’s not how grading works. It’s not done per piece, it’s done by the cow.

How much fat is considered too much fat ? I mean it looks great but that’s like 50% fat content with some think lines if it

Did the lid fall off your rosemary bottle?

Rookie meat buyer here. I noticed my Costco has a terrible selection of NY and ribeyes. In order to get the best meat should I just approach the window and ask for a ribeye roast?

I would not be happy with that at $80…

Local butcher by me does this all the time. They’ll have NY strips “choice” 2 for $30 and theyre absolutely perfectly marbled lol
