Made a pit stop to check out the digs at Remedy. It opened recently at the corner of 3rd and Nueces, right before you get to Hestia and Polvos.
It’s as close to a neighborhood bar as you’ll find for cheaper drinks and eats in this area.
At happy hour a beer and queso fries or fried pickles are $5 each.
I was encouraged to try one of their frozen drinks, the Cold Fashioned, and it maintains a very whisky forward flavor. It’s a double shot of whiskey, they say it’s limit two per person. I was good with one after starting with a Spicy Mezcal Margarita. Happy with both of those drinks. The kitchen serves until midnight so I’ll come back and try more food when I’m running around late.
It feels like a really accessible place, not too pricey, the owners all live in the building and a couple of them were on site meeting and greeting customers. I recognized some of the staff from other bars around town and they said a lot of industry workers from nearby restaurants have been hanging out.

Drinks look good. Fries on the other hand look like they could use more fry-time. How were the fries, maybe the pic didn’t do it justice.
That is the saddest plate of cheesy fries I’ve seen in many moons.

Uncooked frozen fries slathered in nacho cheese. Only remedy necessary is a refund.
Was fully prepared to say people were just being haters about those fries, but Jesus Christ they look terrible. Were they better than they look?
Thanks for ensuring I’ll never patron this place. The fries look atrocious and the drinks look sad and plain. Using vida in today’s mezcal world is also insane.
