I was curious and calculated the macros of the good culture low-fat cottage cheese. I did 14×4 + 3×4 + 2.5×9 = 90.5? Why does it say 80 cals then im so confused….

    Food nutrition labels are allowed to be off by 20% in the US. Multiple of my food nutrition labels that I calculated were off by 10-20 calories give or take. Food ingredients are not always created equally. Cottage cheese is made by straining low fat milk with an acid, but there’s no telling that the low fat milk is always the same. Cows are an organic being, unlike something made in a lab. Machines that companies use to filter the milk aren’t always consistent.

    Another reason is that most food company’s testing methodology are different. Even with the same label, different styles of testing can lead to different results.

    Don’t stress it tho. Just follow the given calorie count and you’ll be fine. Unless your brain tells you that you absolutely need to lol

    damn not that 10 calories matters but i’ve just been assuming good culture has better macros than others lol
