Had to grab whatever was left in my work canteen – they claimed this cheese & onion Panini was only 269kcal but surely that's way too low?

It's American style cheese and i've estimated in MFP that at minimum it's 200 for bread (it's quite thin), 135 for three slices of cheese, and around 15 or so for the onion, so 350kcal total?

I'd planned to have soup as I have a nice dinner waiting at home so I'm hoping I'm wrong but suspecting I'm not 😭

That’s a lot of bread. I’d guess each half is 250-300

Ok – update from the catering manager! They use low cal/high fibre bread, (broadly equivalent to the keto products you get in the US) and fat free cheese singles which they slice in half so there’s only 2 of them in there. There is also no butter, mayo, or any other added extras – just the bread, cheese, and a small amount of raw white onion. Apparently a recent audit from trading standards spot checked 20 of their items and they passed (with an allowable margin for error of 20%).

So it sounds like it actually might be 259 but I am now concerned at the odd chemicals and crap tonne of fibre I just ate 🤣
