    Hey man, super cool of you to do something nice for your daughter. That’s sweet.

    Next time, hit a butcher shop. You can usually get great cuts at similar prices. Go for local, something recommended in your area.

    Get that steak dry. I like to throw mine on a rack in the fridge salted overnight, but even patting it dry with paper towel will make a huge sear difference.

    Season the steak with some steak seasoning or just plain ol kosher salt and pepper right before you put it on the grill or at least 15 minutes before. Just trust me on that one, there’s a sciency reason for it.

    Get that grill ripping hot before searing it. Throw it on diagonal and quarter turn it 4 times. Drop the temp on the bbq to low and let it cook until the internal reaches 130°; gives it a chance to render the fat.

    Good luck, man! Plenty more great tips online. Like I said, hell of a nice gesture.

    It could be better, but I’ve seen far worse, all the people here acting like assholes like they haven’t fucked up a steak once or twice far beyond this.

    Should’ve cooked it with a rock so when it was ready you could’ve thrown the steak away and given your daughter the rock to eat.

    Use a iron pan and salt the steak a day before the cook in the fridge or 3h.
