It depends on how well trained are your baristas to use it. Feels like it took the same time as knocking the puck off and wiping it with a easy-to-access towel imo

Definitely more useful than for a home barista imo. I worked in a drive thru only cafe and we knocked the grounds out but didn’t wipe them out completely so we were grinding fresh espresso grounds over remnants of the last shot(s). I initially tried to rinse the portafilter every time but eventually I succumbed bc that level of quality wasn’t this cafes priority (even tho that’s bare minimum to me). It wouldn’t save a huge amount of time but might make things more efficient in a drive thru cafe focused on speed where you barely have two seconds to make drinks properly.

It really depends on the puck as well as humidity. It could still be messy, either the wet puck sticks to the inner wall, or some fragment of the puck fly out to the surroundings, or both.
You have to clean it every now and then. That’s my 2 cents
