I’d like to thank everyone who commented on my original post yesterday with advice on how to fix this disgusting grill. After much consideration and taking the budget of my workplace into mind, I went with the cheapest option.

1 entire grill brick, less than 5 burns, water, oil, and a 2.5 hours of elbow grease later; I present to you, this disgusting flattop turned into a mirror.

It’s not perfect, but oh man it’s so much better. The corners are a write off, there’s no getting in there. Believe me, I tried.

Great work! I said this before but your range looks EXACTLY like mine.

I use a small broken off piece of grill brick to get the corners. Try standing on the side rather than in front too, it’s a better angle.

Did the closer literally just do a basic scrape every night for two years? No pads no degreaser?

Hell yeah dude, I’ve been there. Looks great. I said it yesterday and I’ll say it again:Matador. Great grill cleaner, and surprisingly super cheap (like 25 bucks for 4 gallons)

  4. My grill looks very similar to yours. Originally, when I started there, they would do a proper clean of it MAYBE once a month, like, they would literally wait until little chunks of the burnt on carbon started to peel off before cleaning it. Thankfully, things have greatly changed lol.

I’m from the middle of the jungle in Antarctica. What is a grill brick? We use abrasive rectangle mesh sheets combined with a studded metal tool with a strong handle. Am I too un-american to know what ‘brick of grill’ is?

  11. My parents bought a home with a built in griddle and it looks pretty similar to the one on the left.. Should I look into restoring it like this or if its not a commercial situation its not really worth it?

  12. Should have scraped it into a bowl for the ultimate fond
