This is one of the worst wines I have ever had. That is all. I am a firm believer that you can find good wine at Food Lion. I STILL believe that. That being said, this raisiney, sweet, flabby, godforsaken atrocity against all things that are good and pure in the universe is is NOT IT. Blech. Pour it out, because I just did.

Pinot is probably the hardest grape to do well for cheap (for a litany of reasons). If I ever buy lower cost wine, I avoid Pinot haha
I’m a firm believer in simply not buying supermarket wine, and that applies tenfold for supermarket pinot noir.
Had it before and had no issue. Many California PNs struggle to live up to the standard some expect. I think most people dislike some of the earthy characteristics that come out in this variety grown in CA in this price range. Mouthfeel is hard to get right in this price range too. What was it, like $10 bucks or so? Not bad at that price.
Is it flawed or just bad?
Lol my cousin brought this over one weekend and i just regifted it back to her a few weeks later.
30 years ago Mark West was a pretty reliable 2nd tier pour. Hadn’t had in an age & I picked a bottle maybe a year ago. It was shite. WTF happened?
Going with a cheap warm-climate Pinot rarely ends well.
Sheesh I actually don’t mind this at all
Don’t pour it out. Cooking wine. French chicken always needs wine.
Good lord, the snobbery in the comments here. Yeah, this pinot is garbage. But you can find a $25 Australian pinot, The Hare and the Tortoise, that’s fine. There are even good options from Willamette for ~$25.
Unbelievable. It has a Vivino rating of 3.8/5, but I had this wine a few years back and rated it an insipid 2.5/5. Sorry. Life’s too short…
Yeah,it’s pretty bad..
As others have said,PN is tough to do on the cheap.. it is a finicky grape to grow..
Personally I don’t much care for cali PN to begin with..
I think it shines much better in cooler climates..
But,to be fair,I have not tried any of the higher price point cali pinots..
Cheap steakhouse Pinot—sometimes they aren’t just Pinot.
What do you expect from Gallo? Guessing you haven’t tried Meomi yet
I actually don’t have an issue with this wine. Mainly because it’s $8 at my local supermarket so 🤷♂️
What’s some recommendations if you state this is bad, at that similar or close price point. I’ll legit try what you suggest
22 was a rough vintage in that area too. Crazy heat spikes around Labor Day, can’t imagine it did good for PN in an already warmer climate.
My fiancé doesn’t get snobby about flavor of wine she just likes winding down after a long shift and this is usually what she picks up. That being said I’ve had glasses here and there with her and we’ve had “ehh I could have another glass of this” bottles to exactly what this guy is talking about. It’s wildly inconsistent. She stopped buying it after one of the bad bottles she got.
Cupcake says “Hold my wine”. May as well be in a box.
Drinking a glass of this right now while reading this. 🙄. We have only had sub $20 PN, but we have one bottle of Pavelot Pernand-Vergelrssee that we haven’t had yet. Maybe that will change what we think of the cheaper PN.
Worst you’ve ever had? Have you tried Apothic Red? (my winner for worst wine I’ve ever had, and I’ve had a $3 Hungarian egri bikaver that tasted like meat.)
This said, super cheap warm-climate Pinot Noir is definitely a recipe for badness.
The cab is worse. Slightly but it is.
I had a wine once called “sweet bitch”. You should try it, might make you rethink your statement
…..it’s my top seller. Corporate mandate.
It’s supposed to be the most popular pinot on the country. Guess you’re in the minority. lol
Kendall Jackson Chardonnay! Way too oaky for me!
California Pinots. ’nuff said.
I’ve, sadly, had way shittier Pinot noir.. not a big fan of that one but just sharing it gets much much worse
