I know I'm a drunk. I have a problem. I can't just quit, but I'm working on it, drinking less every couple days. Please don't berate me. I know I have a problem.

Money is tight right now so I probably will be posting less. I have to make a 500 dollar a month payment or I lose my license, and I can’t afford that. All because of cheap auto insurance.fuck me.

Damn Mr. Sourdough, I’m sorry to hear you’re in tough times. I’m glad you’re willing and able to access resources to get yourself fed. You know, food banks often have connections to alcoholism-related resources if you ever feel up to asking when you’re there for food.

Instead of hating on yourself and having the mindset of being sober forever, try setting and beating your own records. Make it 2 days without a drink? Fuck yeah, try again when you’re ready and see if you can make it 3 days. If not, no biggie. You already know you can do 2 days, so it’s easier to picture and encourage yourself to go a little longer the next time around. Nobody’s perfect, there’s no reason to hold yourself to that standard.

What about making your own sourdough? Making bread is an art form. I always found it very peaceful and a good way to sort through my thoughts. It could be a very helpful distraction and a healthy time filler during the time of day you’d usually be drinking. Try some simple dinner rolls or a focaccia bread and see how you like it.

Things will get better soon. Keep taking care of yourself, eat those veggies, you got this. 🖤
