I’m obsessed with French wine, Burgundy obsessed, and a stereotypical r/wine American wine skeptic… but Oregon is winning me over, slowly but surely.

From the Eola-Amity Hills in OR. Beautiful gold color. After about an hour in bottle w the cork popped it has aromas of lemon zest and white flowers. This wine is plush and velvety on the palate, concentrated and juicy, with excellent structural balance. Ripe red apple, Meyer lemon, pear, ginger and floral notes, balanced by some delicate oak undertones and bright acidity.

This wine is drinking beautifully, it reminds me of a nice 1er cru Chablis, and that my friends is high praise from me. 13% ABV. Think I paid maybe $50? Outstanding wine, would definitely recommend.

There is some killer Chardonnay coming out of the Willamette Valley right now and this is one of the best!

Cristom is the bomb. Their Pinots age beautifully too.

  3. A member of the winemaking team at Cristom has his own label with his wife called Liska. some of the finest wines I’ve ever seen come out of Oregon. Riesling, Gamay, Gruner, White Blend are all phenomenal.

The Gerrie family are great people as well. Tom, the next generation taking over, is amazing and enthusiastic, and great people.

These days when I drink Oregon wine it’s almost always Chardonnay.

Have you tried their single vineyard chards? Their seven springs is one of the most crisp and mineral whites I’ve ever had, incredible depth. A true chablis PC / GC. Louise is much rounder and full but also very elegant and burgundy like.
