I've never had tinned herring in tomato sauce. I don't know what to eat these with. Any suggestions?

  1. With your mouth. At least that’s how I do it. You mileage may vary.

You could put it on pasta, if you’re into that sort of thing.

straight out of the can, with a piece of good bread to dip in the sauce

I like to cool them down in the fridge and then put them on bread or bread rolls.

Or heat them up in a portion of freshly cooked rice.

Edit: lol, you just inspired me to try them with a pack of udon noodles, smoked onion flakes and chipotle chili flakes. That also fits very well.

On a cracker (I like La Panzanella) garnished with sautéed chopped garlic and parsley and lemon zest.

I like to lightly heat my tinned fish through by mixing them into a hot bowl of couscous or quinoa and some sautéed veggies. Otherwise straight from the tin just on some toasted pieces of bread

Herring is my favourite tinned fish to eat out of the can, maybe with a little hot sauce or lemon juice on top of I’m feeling fancy

Ooh my favourite way to eat canned fish in tomato sauce is on toast, with cheddar cheese on top and broiled until bubbly, then black pepper and flaky salt on top. My dad got me into it and it’s such a comfort meal for me.
