It’s an annual debate around the Thanksgiving dinner table for many families: what’s the best side dish? What about the best dessert?
While it may not settle things, new Google data shows some consensus by state. Last week, Google Trends released the most-searched side dishes and desserts in each state.
The data, which was compiled over the span of a week earlier this month, found the most popularly searched side dishes across the country were casserole, vegetables, pasta/grains and stuffing. The most-searched baked goods included cake, cookies, pie and bread.
Here are the results for Massachusetts.
What is Massachusetts’ most searched Thanksgiving side dish?
While most states were looking for green bean or sweet potato casseroles, Google searchers in Massachusetts were looking for a type of stuffing.
Massachusetts’ most searched side dish for Thanksgiving is sourdough stuffing, according to Google Trends data.
Across the country, some of the other unique side dish searches included ramen noodle salad in Nebraska and pineapple stuffing in New Mexico. See the map:
What is Massachusetts’ most searched Thanksgiving baked good?
Although Massachusetts residents love a pie, including the official state dessert Boston cream pie, Google searchers have been looking for recipes for a different baked good instead.
According to Google Trends data, cheese ball was the most searched Thanksgiving baked good in Massachusetts earlier this month. See the full map:
Massachusetts was also the only state, according to Google Trends, that was searching for apple pie recipes more than pumpkin pie two weeks before Thanksgiving.
