    Nahhhh bro fuck that.

I wouldn’t touch that blade while powered. I’ve seen what they do. I got goosebumps watching your hand get close to that.

  2. Nah you should hate it.

Other chef can fucking do that.

I got handed a mandolin without a guard once and told my GM I’d walk before I used that shit.

Your safety ain’t worth the owner saving a buck on good equipment

  3. eslafylraelcyrev

Ffffffffuck no. Tell “chef” get that thing serviced or replaced or it ain’t happening.

  4. Romanian_Breadlifts

    Hit it with a hammer

Now they need a new one

  5. Millerhah

NO NO NO NO. JUST FUCKING NO. REDTAG THAT PEICE OF SHIT AND WALK AWAY.

  6. blueturtle00

Just the starter in the motor is failing and needs a kick start, it’s really not as big of a deal as everyone here is making it out to be lol

  7. You can get another job. You can’t get another hand. Tell the owner to call a service tech

  8. shamanbaptist

Agree that he should just say no, but if you choose to do it why a towel?

A silicone spatula would have worked and kept him safer. Also you’d hope they’d have cut gloves, but who knows if this is their equipment.

  9. Sliderisk

When I owned a deli I did this on our prep slicer. I told my employees I would fire them if I caught them doing it. I trust myself not to lose a finger and sue me, I don’t trust anyone else that much.

  10. I0VES2SPO0GE

It’s a beautiful old machine but it needs a start capacitor. Easy as fuck to replace and can usually be found on Amazon

  11. Margrave16

The capacitor is out. That’s a fairly easy fix for the right person. You could probably get it fixed for cheaper than replacing it.

  12. ForemanNatural

Nope. Nope. NOPE. No fucking way. There are plenty of other kitchens out there that need help, and don’t expect you to use a seriously faulty slicer.

Fuck whoever put you in this situation.

  13. Worked in a deli through college. Absolutely would not do what they’re advising. Shit is scary sharp.

  14. themysticalwarlock

ayo what the fuck. I wouldn’t touch that shit with someone else’s dick

  15. Downtown_Albatross99

I don’t understand why other gms and chefs don’t just have a tech come out and service the equipment to make it run properly. That service fee and labor of the repair is going to be less money than the eventual lawsuit and medical bills for the person who hurts themselves. My entire crew know the second something goes wrong with any of the equipment call out the service tech for that equipment. I would rather pay a $200 charge for them to say it’s a small thing then thousands of dollars later on

  16. texastoasty

hell no, that needs a new starting capacitor, its like a $10 part. they gotta fix that shit, your hand is worth more than delaying the purchase of a $10 part.

  17. Slow-Assumption2957

I almost lost my fingertip to one of those. It hit my finger and spun my hand like a can in a can opener. It went around the bone, and I pulled back just in time to save like a quarter of the meat in that spot. I closed my finger like a lid and taped it up. Thankfully, finger tips heal really well, but dude, don’t touch that thing.

  18. ryanosaurusrex1

This is a health and safety committee issue. If you don’t have them then perhaps the health inspector might be able to intervene in some way…

  19. IvanOMartin

    Hard learned lesson:

They value 20 year old gear wayyyy higher than a cooks finger in this business.

  20. Rina_yevna

please tell them to get that fixed before something horrible happens. I was fishing out a piece of turkey from one once and sliced the tip of my finger off. It wasn’t even on, I’m just dumb. I can’t imagine the damage it would do on

  21. Touchingtulips

Be careful bc being slice by these at that angle cannot be stitched.

  22. ProperPerspective571

Tell Chef to show you how as you don’t understand what he means to push the blade to get it going. Let’s see how Chef steps up. Shouldn’t even hold that title

  23. I’ve taken these fully apart to clean/service them before, its’ extremely simple. It’d be a good idea to disassemble it and give it a good internal douching. That may fix the problem. If you’re not comfortable, make chef take it somewhere to be serviced.

Your job is not worth your fingers.

  24. Lumpy_Criticism_9506

Never put fabric near a spinning machine… Use a wooden spoon or something that keeps your hand further away.

  25. DatDan513

The unit needs to be serviced. It’s likely the motor capacitor is going out.

That’s literally it. Easy 5 min fix.

  26. Bluecricket5

However much they’re paying you to risk cutting off your fingers, it ain’t worth it

  27. Good-Tea3481

The sheer fact it’s dirty before you start it. Drives me insane

  28. yesnomaybenotso

Oh cool, I sliced the tip of my finger off with one of those.

You should probably just quit now while you have all your fingers. Trust me. Don’t let yourself get too comfortable with this shit

  29. mikulashev

You need to clean it properly ones in a while, that what you need to do…

  30. KrazyKatz42

I’m sorry but just watching that made me anxious.

  31. hotinhawaii

It’s broken. That motor needs a new capacitor. It’s a very easy fix for anyone that can use a screwdriver. Look it up.

  32. dfinkelstein

He thinks this is okay. He’s not going to tell you about every single dangerous thing. Because why would he? They’re fine, you don’t need to know about them. You won’t see the next one coming….

  33. NedrojThe9000Hands

Yeah fuck that fix your shit or i am reporting you to the local news companies osha nasa the health inspector and anybody else i can think of

  34. skykingjustin

Bro if that towels grabs your hand is getting sucked into the cutting wheel. Don’t fucking do this what the fuck.
