I used Nigella Lawson’s chocolate Guinness cake recipe, replaced the Guinness with an imperial stout from a local brewery, increased the ratio of whipped cream in the frosting and added vanilla bean paste also.

It doesn’t look the prettiest but it does look like it tastes amazing. I would take a delicious cake over an aesthetically pleasing one any day. Lucky sis.

As someone who’s made this cake it’s delicious and I think the intentional rustic factor adds to its charm. It’s the exact perfect cake to put together for a cozy family celebration 🤍 your sister is lucky!

It looks fun! I’ll bet it was fun to share with family and that it tasted great!

That looks great! And you said tasted amazing. Just because it didn’t meet your thought of what it was supposed to be. Baking is fluid. As long as it tastes good who cares.

And I think it would make a great Halloween ghost cake.

I like the look. The minimalist sides against the fluffy fluffy whipped top.

Decorating and icing is a completely different set of skills, the cake looks delicious. You are right not to beat yourself up. Tips for next time, get a rotating turn table, an offset spatula, and a piping bag. And you will need more icing than you think, just to be safe.

Tastes just as good going down
