This can featured three large Pilchards perfectly placed in the can. The texture of the sardines was different than those found in traditional olive oil. These were very firm. They’re actually grilled in their preparation so the outside does give way to a slightly softer center. The silvery skins of the sardines had taken on a very dark wood stained brown color from the Teriyaki sauce. I found the sauce to be very sweet – even on some lightly buttered toast. This is one of those fun every now and then tins but not something I would eat regularly.

Ingredients: Sardines, Teriyaki Sauce [Sugar, Water, Soya Sauce (Water, Soya Bean, Wheat Flour, Salt), modified Corn Starch, acetic Acid] and Salt.

For those that are curious this Porthos branded product is produced by CONSERVAS PORTUGAL NORTE, LDA. and BRIOSA CONSERVAS DE PESCADO who work together to increase production.

They also produce the Dama Brand, Iñes, and Conserveria.

Definitely a white rice situation, I’d think. Looks good. Thx for sharing.

Delicious on some rice with a slice of cucumber and some furikake.
