I've only ordered one once and it was amazing but I felt my heart getting clogged with oil per getting fried and all the oil hanging out in the crevices of the beauty. Are they all so oily? Been scared to try again since. Picture for your pleasure.

it’s a deep fried onion lol, it’s going to be a little heavy
Considering they’re deep-fried… yes, they are usually quite oily
No not always, some restaurants do it better, I’ve never made one at home but I’m sure there are ways to reduce how oily they get. Rest time probably plays a role. Oil quality and onion quality probably plays a role too.
I don’t want to tell you how much to eat but I wouldn’t recommend eating the whole thing it is very oily in a sense that it’s deep fried definitely worth sharing. I’ve also been able to save leftovers and pan fry them just to crisp them up again or toss some pieces in the toaster oven.
You do know how deep-frying works, right?
Nah ,just like not all fried chicken is greasy. ☺️ Gotta find the right joint
Outback has gone to shite. They used to be so much bigger and better.
The real question is, are all blooming onions fried?
yes
I heard McD’s has a Diet blooming onjon. They say it’s zero calories just like a cmcumber. Cummie. Edit: Yummie.
You cannot “feel” your heart clogging. Do you think that oils and fats from food are immediately deposited into your arteries?
Get a fried one and get a raw one, that’s how I like mine. And I mix the raw with the fried 😋😋
Why do you have to be so difficult? It’s a entire fried onion in oil. Try it in a air fryer if you want to know.
Only about 2000 calories worth. Google it.
Blooming onions are way over hyped.
Air fryer is the way to save yourself on the grease.
I’ve made one at home and hanging it upside down helps quite a bit. It’s going to absorb a lot of oil still, but it at least stops those greasy blobs of oil from just pooling in the cuts. Makes a pretty sizeable difference, only way I can eat one with my GERD
it’s not like you’re eating it every day
I can count on one hand how many I’ve had in my entire life.
Yes, but how oily depends on the type of fat used, it’s temperature and age, and the breading.
Yes
They look good and I will eat it if someone orders it but it is not my favorite. I think that the onion does not cook enough and it is sometimes messy to pull my piece off of it. Onion rings and strings are sooooo much better.
I would go as far as saying all foods dunked in a pot of oil are oily.
Slightly unrelated but I do not care for the Texas Roadhouse bloomin onion, I think they call it a cactus bloom
I’ve never had a blooming onion I assume it tastes like/similar to onion rings they look so fucking good
