The month of November is here, and with its arrival, Americans are looking forward to one of their favorite holidays: Thanksgiving.

For Americans, the centerpiece of this holiday is the food on the table. While many families hold different traditions for the fourth Thursday in November, and food dishes can vary, there are some undeniable Thanksgiving meal staples.

Of course, most people will bake a delicious, golden turkey for the main entrée. But what fills the rest of the plate?

Campbell’s conducted its third annual “State of the Sides” survey and report this year, finding each of the 50 states’ favorite Thanksgiving side dishes, and the results are in. Five thousand US adults 18 and over who celebrate Thanksgiving were surveyed, with 100 Americans in each state.

Campbell’s survey reveals America’s love for Thanksgiving sides

According to the survey results, many Americans prefer the sides over the main dish. Here are some stats the survey found:

55% said they would rather pile their plates with sides than the turkey itself.

60% find more joy in cooking the sides than preparing the bird.

45% of Gen Z (ages 18-27) said Mac & Cheese is their favorite side dish each year.
