MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – Honey Baked Bread Co. on Third Street in Marquette recently earned the GFFP certification: a gluten-free certification recognized by the National Celiac Association.
They offer a variety of baked goods including sourdough sandwich bread, cupcakes and muffins.
The bakery is also dairy, soy and egg free.
Bailey Knight, the owner, shared why they chose to bake without common allergens.
“There’s anaphylactic reactions for dairy allergies, soy and egg too,” Knight said. “We didn’t want to just give those options. We wanted to make sure that the entire bakery was free of those items to gain trust with the community.”
Knight says Honey Baked Bread Co. is the only bakery in Michigan to attain the GFFP certification and the only bakery in the country where all employees have taken the top 11 allergen training course and been certified.
