There are some experiences you can’t repeat in life. One of those experiences is the first time you try Aldi’s Brioche Christmas Bauble with Chocolate Chips.
At first glance, it doesn’t look like anything special. Normally positioned in between piles of other Christmas treats, you could easily miss it altogether.
It was during a quick trip to Aldi this week to check out their pre-prepared dinner range that I spotted the delicious treat.

At just $7.99, it’s a bargain buy.
I bought two of them, and brought them into the office to share them, knowing I could easily eat an entire one myself, as I did in 2023 when I first sampled it.
The Brioche Christmas Bauble with Chocolate Chips is a delicious, soft, sweet pastry made up on seven brioche swirls with chocolate chips embedded into them and a light layer of sweet icing on top.

To eat it, you simply pull it apart, and judging by how they fell apart in the office as my colleagues eagerly helped themselves, the ones I had picked up were very fresh.
Some mistook the chocolate chips for sultanas or raisins. I quickly reassured them they were chocolate chips.

Christmas desserts are ruined by sultanas, raisins and minced fruit, as far as I am concerned – duds in seas of much more delicious items such as these.
I don’t hate sultanas, raisins and minced fruit in desserts, I just hate that the majority of Christmas desserts contain them. And think of the kids. Which kid likes desserts with dried fruits in them? None! Absolutely none.

This is what makes this particular treat so special.
My colleagues loved it. Word quickly spread and many more came to sample it, some for seconds. It pulls apart so easily and it’s so soft and moist and moreish.
An Aldi spokesperson confirmed the Brioche Christmas Bauble is only available at Christmas time.
“Our Brioche Christmas Bauble with Chocolate Chips is the perfect festive treat to snack on or serve up as a tasty dessert, and at only $7.99 you can grab an extra pack to keep for yourself,” they told 9Honey.

“Made in France, you’ll wow any guests with this authentically French brioche delight with a Christmas twist.
“However, it is a limited time item available only during the Christmas period, so if you’re a sweet tooth we encourage you to pop into stores to pick up a pack while stocks last.”

Genius ways to give life to your Christmas leftovers
The cult Christmas buy is modestly stocked and sells out quickly. I was lucky to get two I did!
While I’d be just as happy to keep this particular dessert on the down low to ensure they are always available when I want one, I equally want to spread the word because this pastry is truly special.

And at $7.99, it is another classic Aldi bargain.
You won’t find them in the bakery section, nor will you find them with the store’s cake display. They are in amongst the Christmas displays in the Special Buys section in the middle of stores.
So good luck getting one, and enjoy!
