  1. Does hot soil mean warm to touch or heavy with nutrients? If heavy in nutrients look into fox farms ocean forest. People always say it’s a hot potting mix

Seeds like to germinate in moist soil that’s around 80 degrees. Plants grow better in soil closer to 70 degrees, though my understanding is warmer soil doesn’t inhibit growth, it just makes them taller and thinner than ideal.

This is one reason why most people start their seeds indoors with a heat pad (or somewhere warm like on top of the fridge), and then remove the heat pad as soon as they sprout.

If you don’t move them outdoors until after your last frost, and you mulch them, then the soil temp should be fine.

I live in the California desert where it’s 115 regularly in July and August. Also a lot of great peppers come out of Arizona and New Mexico. Whoever told you this is full of shit.

  4. You heard wrong…. Plants thrive in warm soil. Raised beds, pots… There is a reason they grow faster.
